The Gift of Jesus

This time of year, we reflect on where we are in our lives and what we have accomplished. We also think about those who have touched our lives and our hearts and prepare to give gifts to show our appreciation.

Although it is always good to think of others rather than ourselves, we must not overlook the one who has affected our lives the most.

If we truly understood what this season really means, we would know that it is so much more than just giving gifts or showing expressions of love. It is about knowing and understanding the incredible love our Lord has for us and being grateful for everyday that He blesses us with and not take anything for granted.

Without the Lord’s new mercies every day we would be consumed (Lamentations 3:22-23). Along with His mercies He gave us the gift of salvation by His grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8).

However His ultimate gift to us was through His love when He gave His only son to be born so we could have eternal life (John 3:16). To make this gift even more amazing, He was born to die for our sins (1 Tim 1:15). There is no greater love than a man laying down his life for his friends (John 15:13).

So as we reflect on our lives and others, let us remember our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who is our greatest gift. Nothing we ever do or give can compare. But if we love and serve Him with all our heart, mind and soul, we honor Him for His sacrifice.

I pray that you have a Blessed Christmas and a New Year full of Hope and Peace.

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
